So you were playing your Xbox 360 the other day. You might have been playing an on-line multiplayer game or you might have been deep into a single player mission of a top selling game like, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Either way your precious piece of high tech hardware know as the Xbox 360 froze and to make things worse when you try to turn it back on you are presented with one blinking red light and your television screen says “System Error contact Xbox Support.” This message is then repeated in many different languages and at the bottom it says E74.

It is depressing to say the least. Your future for gaming does not look good! Do not worry. It has happened to hundreds of thousands of other avid gamers. The good news is Microsoft knows this is an issue and the dreaded E74 error message is covered under warranty.

First let us look out what has caused this tragic error and it is tragic in the eyes of a gamer. Your system has just died. The cause of this error is the main graphics processing unit or GPU has come loose from the motherboard. How could this be? The 360 can get hot, really hot and when it does some of the solder that holds this chip into place can melt. The motherboard might bend slightly from this heat and the next thing you know one of those tiny little legs on the bottom of that magical chip has lost contact with the motherboard.

So what do you do if your 360 is no longer under warranty? You fix it yourself! How?

Are you one of those gamers dealing with the PS3 flashing yellow light issue? If so, then I’m sure you welcome some helps. That’s why I want to take this article to tell you some simple tricks for how to fix the PS3 blinking light and start playing again.

Follow These Easy Steps to Stop the PS3 Flashing Yellow Light

As crazy as it may seem, simply turning your console off and back on can sometimes rid you of the PlayStation 3 yellow light error. Do this first If that doesn’t work and you still have a yellow light flashing on your PS3, then unhook all the cords. Plug them back in now and try it again. Another trick to use, if the above 2 don’t work is to try cleaning all the dust off your PS3 and make sure it has room to breath. Overheating can cause flashing yellow lights. The final thing to do if the tips above don’t help is to disconnect your hard drive for about 15 minutes or so and let the PS3 “reset”. After that, hook it back up and try it again.

Now these tips are great and work half the time. But if your PlayStation 3 is one of those that doesn’t want to cooperate, then you are going to have to actually get it repaired. There are 2 ways to do this…

Way 1 - Let Sony Fix Your PS3 Flashing Yellow Light Problem

This is by far the most common way to get rid of the blinking light on your system. That’s because it’s pretty easy to just ship your system off to Sony and be done with it. There are a few problems, though, and it would be bad if you did this and didn’t know about them. Some of those problems are that it can sometimes take weeks or even months to get your PlayStation 3 back when you send it in for repair for blinking yellow lights. Another fact is that if your warranty is expired you are going to have to pay Sony to fix it and it’s not cheap. I’m talking $130 or more!

Way 2 - Fix PS3 Flashing Yellow Light At Home By Yourself

Before we go any further, let me recommend that you don’t do this unless you have a repair guide are have taken a Sony PlayStation 3 apart before. Anyway, this method involves disassembling your PS3 and fixing the flashing light error right at home. It can usually be done with some common tools and you won’t have to pay for any extra parts or Sony’s repair service. As you can see, I think it’s a better deal to fix PlayStation 3 yourself, but it’s all up to you!

Don’t make the mistake I made! To start off with, I could not believe it when I got these red rings of death, there I was at home in my happy little gaming world and all of a sudden…nothing! Just a frozen screen and this nasty red ring on my xbox 360 where it was normally green! So immediately on to Microsoft to see how to fix red ring of death on xbox 360 and they tell me “sure no problem ship your xbox 360 back to us and we will fix it for you…for $190!

Needless to say that was not happening! My next stop was my ever trustworthy PC, so I type in “HOW TO FIX RED RING OF DEATH ON XBOX 360″ and what came back to me was millions of answers and all claiming they could show me how to do it for free!! I even watched some useless supposed to be YouTube videos named “how to fix red ring of death on xbox 360″ but of course none of them worked and my xbox kept on getting worse! One guy even advised me to wrap my xbox 360 in a towel and get a hair dryer going at it to heat up the system! If you take only one piece of advice from this article let it be this DON’T WRAP YOUR XBOX IN A TOWEL OR USE A HAIR DRYER ON IT!

After the hair dryer episode I called Microsoft back and asked them again how to fix red ring of death on xbox 360 and they told me that it’s actually not that difficult to fix the problem if you have a Professionally made Video guide to follow along to. So, back on to my PC and sure enough I found one and I’m not joking here in under an hour I was back gaming, I could have saved myself alot of time and anguish had I just bought the professional video guide at the start, but as they say you live and learn, and that is the reason for this article on “how to fix xbox 360 red ring of death”…so you my fellow gamers do not make the same mistakes as me!

The Kodak Zi8 HD Camcorder is a small video recorder which provides its users with video recording capability of up to 1080p HD resolution. Attractively priced under $200, it is a direct contender to the Flip Video Camcorder Ultra HD and Mino HD.

Whether your a novice or a pro, you will appreciate the Kodak ZI8 camcorder’s rich user experience. It allows two modes of standard video capture at 30 fps: WVGA (848 x 480) and 720p (1280 x 720). A 60 fps mode in 720p is also provided which is very useful for capturing fast moving action. The prominent video capture mode of course is the HD mode which offers the 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution at 30 fps. The 1080p/30fps mode makes beautiful sharp, clear video but it requires a larger amount of memory using up to 150MB per minute of 1080p video.

Still capture is built-into the camcorder permitting the Kodak ZI8 HD to take still five megapixel photographs. A 4X digital zoom feature is provided for all of the video capture modes as well as the still capture mode; unfortunately, it sometimes can create rathershaky motion blurs when employed in any of the video modes. The Kodak ZI8 does employ image stabilization to lessen video shake.

The camcorder only has 128MB of internal memory and there is no SD card bundled with the unit. The camcorder can hold SD cards up to 32GB, which is plenty of storage for most users. The Kodak camcorder has built-in image stabilization to lesson video jerkiness due to camera shake.

The sound quality with the ZI8 is very good using its internal microphone giving crisp sound with good detail as long as there is minimal background noise. When recording outdoors with a noisy surrounding like wind noise or loud vehicles, sound quality like most flip type camcorder is fair to good. In the latter situation it is probably best to make use of the external microphone jack which is supplied on the Kodak Zi8 HD. Many camcorders especially the flip type or pocket camcorder does not offer this feature and it is an exceptional addition to the Zi8.

This review would not be thorough if it didn’t acknowledge the truly small and compact profile of the Kodak ZI8 HD camcorder. At a just under an inch thick, measuring 2.4 inches wide by 4.5 inches long and weighing 4.8 ounces it is one of the and lightest pocket camcorders being sold. In order to obtain this degree of portability the unit employs a low-profile lithium-ion battery as opposed to rechargeable AA batteries.

The Kodak ZI8 HD Camcorder is an excellent value for the price. The camcorder can record in best quality 1080p HD reselution. It is truly compact, making it a pocket camcorder in more than just name only. Unlike many of its competitors it offers an external microphone jack that will allow better sound quality especially when professional quality sound is required. As an added bonus, both the HDMI and composite cables are included with the camcorder. The only negative is that digital zoom performance is not the perfect and there is no bundled Mac software. Aside from that, it would seem to be an affordable and well performing pocket camcorder.

Yea i know its 2009 and I still dont have either one lol. I been in college so pretty busy but now that I got a summer job i got a little spending money that I want to spend on either a XBOX 360 OR PS3. I have read many articles about this and all of them pretty say it depends no what you like and your situation so here is what i like and my situation. I would like to hear any and all opinions. Thanks.

1. I DON’T care about the Blue-ray player at ALL i dont watch too many movies if any.

2. For the past year i have been playing my roommate’s xbox 360 for a whole year, thus i played HALO 3 and gears of wars 2 numerous times and beat both games that i dont want to play them anymore. I DO NOT care about these so called “exclusive games mentioned above on the xbox 360 that are so popular.

3. I know its late and its 2009 and these systems have been out a couple of years now. I also have heard rumors on the web (true or not) that Microsoft will be realeasing a new xbox (xbox 720 or somethin..) in the near future like in 2010 or 2011. I do not want to waste money on a xbox 360 if it will just be usless in 1-2 years.

4. I like online gaming. I DO NOT care about paying for xbox live its not that much (50/yr). However, most of my friends have a xbox 360 and play call of duty 4 or 5 and I would like to play with them. However, if i dont its not the end of the world. Its just a plus.

5. I DO NOT care about paying more for ps3 upfront. 100 dollars is not a big deal in the long run.

thanks in advance for any and all help. all opinions welcome.
(sorry for long long post lol) thanks for reading.
I am leaning more towards xbox 360 just because so many of my friends have it and play it. I really want to play the new cod4 modern warefare 2 when it comes out w/ my friends.

However the thing holding me back is the fact that a new xbox might come out soon. Does anyone know anything about the new xbox 720?? and when its supposed to come out etc…

Also I know that sony said they will back up ps3 for a minumium of 10 yrs so that they probably wont come out with a new playstation system anytime soon, however, microsoft might come out with a new xbox soon. thats what im worried about.
